Hospital Supply Drive (HSD)

According to export.gov, Angola does not have specialized medical care for children and women, contributing to high rates of infant and maternal death. We are currently running a Hospital Supply Drive to help with the lack of medical supplies in rural provinces. Hospital supplies consist of gloves (medium and large), ribbons, bandages (various sizes), cotton balls, tongue depressors, hand sanitizers and alcohol wipes. We are also collecting items that are directly related to the most common medical problems that the population faces, including malaria, diabetes, and high blood pressure.  We were able to partner with Partners For World Health and purchase over $1800 worth of discounted hospital supplies with all of your monetary donations.  Those supplies plus the ones donated by our supporters will provide 7 duffel bags of hospital supplies to a start-up health post and 2 hospitals.  More updates to follow post COVID.

PREVENT MALARIA CAMPAIGN (PMC)

In 2008 there were 3.5 million cases of malaria reported and there were 20,896 reported deaths in Angola. It was also discovered that 1/3 of all cases occur in children. Children under 5 account for half of all malaria deaths.*

Malaria can be prevented through the use of treated mosquito nets. The Prevent Malaria Campaign was successfully completed.  We achieved our goal of raising $2500 so that we could bless 250 families by the year 2013. We delivered 250 mosquito nets to a town (Sanza Pombo) and village (Alfandga) in the Uige province of Angola thus helping approximately 400 individuals on World Malaria Day.

“I believe that every act of kindness goes a long way.  It is our responsibility as humans to take care of our fellow people in our neighborhoods, states, country, and even around the world.  We feel honored to be a part of this movement and are hopeful that this year we can make a big impact with the help of our supporters.”
